Monday Must Haves: Book Club

I recently finished this book.  I loved it!  I was hesitant to read it just because I'm an avid reader of her blog and thought I knew everything about the accident, her new life, etc.  Even at my son's swimming lessons I overheard someone saying it was kind of cheesy.

Cheesy?  Sign me up.

No, really.  I'll admit.  The beginning is a tad cheesy but you have to have those parts to really understand her love for Christian and her family.  And then it just draws you in from there.  On more than one occasion on my morning walks, my eyes filled with tears and stained my cheeks.  I was just hoping no one ever saw me blubber away.  There was so much more that I learned about her and her family as well as her struggles to get better after crash.  It makes me want to go back and read her blog during her recovery again.

I highly recommend this book but don't say I didn't warn you to have Kleenex near by.

Friday Plus-April 27th

Here we go!
Some of my friends threw me a baby shower and needless to say I got hooked up: quilts, diapers, wipes, clothes, bows, etc.  I'm so blessed.  My little munchkins will be dressed so cute with all the coordinating outfits.  Time for dress up!

I finally finished the car seat tents.  I messed up on the first one so luckily I had another to do to fix mistake.  But my OCDness is setting in and I think I'm going to have to fix the first one so they "match" despite my laziness.  I love the fabric.  I wanted them to "go together" instead of match.  I want to be able to put boy or girl in any car seat because I'll probably be too tired to worry about if the girl is in the right one. Ha!

We went on a stay cation the other weekend sans kids.  Our first stop was the Melting Pot.  It was our first time there and it was SO good.  Highly recommend.  It was fun to get away just the two of us before our life turns chaotic.

This is what happens when it is freezing on your staycation when you are supposed to lay by the pool all day.  You end up buying a dining table!  We have been wanting a table forever and we couldn't pass this deal up.

WiWW: Time is a ticking....

So, the clock is running down on my due date.  So, maybe I'll have more outfits to show in awhile.  Who am I kidding?  I can't fit into my clothes for a long time but I can dream right?  I finally wore a new skirt I bought.  Guess what color?  You guessed right....COBALT BLUE!  I wasn't kidding when I told you I was obsessed.

Here is my inspiration for the outfit.

Speaking of the shoes, I would have worn different shoes but these days my feet only fit in crocs or flip flops. sigh!  I can't wait until I can wear cute shoes again.

Thank you, Dr. Seuss!

My son is a picky eater.  I seriously hate it.  My sister can get him to eat things I cannot.  I think he sees his cousin eating it so he tries it.  In fact, my sister said she wanted to take him for a week for food therapy.  Go right ahead!  Anything to help.

He is starting to ask for fruit like grapes, bananas, apples, and oranges more so it makes me proud.  He ate those when he was little but then just kept his diet to quesadillas, mac and cheese, PB&J, chicken nuggets and to restaurant kid menus when we go out.

This makes dinner interesting at our house.  I don't cater to his picky eating.  I make what I make and he is expected to eat it.  He can't have any snacks after dinner or dessert if he doesn't eat some of it.

Enter Dr. Seuss.

The other day we read Green Eggs and Ham. And I had an epiphany at dinner that night.  I told my son that Sam I am thought he wouldn't like it but then he tried it and it was good.

Who knew that would work on my son but it did?  He tried it and then all I heard was, "This is yummy!"  Let's just say it hasn't worked for everything but it has helped a lot.

A big thank you to Dr. Seuss!

Monday Must Haves.....Date Night Edition

Over the weekend my husband and I had date night.  Boy, do I love date night!  Lately our date nights have been just dinner because that is about all I can handle sometimes....stupid swollen feet.  Anyway, awhile ago I made a rule for date nights:  No checking phones (unless you are alone like someone went to the bathroom or someone is calling you), we can't talk about our son, and my husband added a few other topics that we can't talk about it.  It seemed like all we could talk about was the weather.  It only lasted a month or so but it was fun to pretend we were just dating again.

Well, with dinner just on our agenda I knew I needed to make sure we had great conversation.  To be honest, I could talk all night but sometimes my husband is content with little talking. :)  So, I'm so glad Pinterest is there because they have lots of date night ideas or, my personal favorite, lists of things to talk about.  I have a board called "Keeping it Fresh" on Pinterest and it is all about dating ideas, marriage, etc.  And I love it!

So I pulled out my phone and got this list from Hopes and Dreams.  Not gonna lie, my husband rolled his eyes when I told him what I was looking at.  I told him to pick a number between 1-30 and that was the question I was going to ask.  The question that we ended up talking about was

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? 10 years? 15 years?

Let's just say it was a great starter for great conversation which we ended up talking about other things too.  In fact, I couldn't get my husband to shut up.  lol.  My kind of date!

So, give it a whirl and you just might be surprised.  I know I was.

Busy Bag Swap

Recently I was a part of a Busy Bag Swap.  I've been looking to create some busy bags for my son to do this summer while I'm sleep deprived and trying to figure out life with twins but it just wasn't getting done.  Luckily, a friend told me about this swap.  I made two different sets of bags (18 of them).  This way it cut costs because you buy a lot of something and actually use it instead of tons of stuff you don't end up using.  And it forced me to do it!

I made the Match Jar and Pool Noodle Lacing and Sequencing.  Here are the tutorials.

I can't wait to see what how all the other bags turned out.

WiWW: "You come here A LOT!"

I have a true confession....I love Old Navy!  There I said it.  And with my obsession to always buy a new church outfit for Easter I went to Old Navy to hunt for a dress.  Now, remember how I'm obsessed with Cobalt Blue right now?  Old Navy provided the perfect dress.

Well, I bought the dress and just the next week ALL the dresses went on sale.  So, of course I had to venture in again to buy another dress.  As I was in the dressing room, the attendent said, "You come here a lot."  Granted she helped me both times.  I said, "Well, you put your dresses on sale and I need one."  So, I proceeded to buy one. Maybe Old Navy should sponsor me because I am a walking advertisement.

(disclaimer...I wore this dress on Easter and I thought I looked totally cute or at least I felt cute.  Not sure if it is the angle my husband took the picture in or if I just hate looking 32 weeks pregnant with twins, which I'm sure it is the latter, the dress doesn't LOOK as flattering as I felt.)  We all have failures.  But the dress is so comfortable that I will probably wear it again.  It isn't maternity so I'll be wearing it a lot this summer.

Dress/necklace: Old Navy
shirt: Shade

Dress: Old Navy (the one on sale)
Cardigan: Nordstrom's
shoes: Payless

Monday Must Haves...accessories

Today's must haves are a mixture of things.

This brace is a must for those suffering from carpal tunnel.  Recently, both my wrists have had severe pain from pregnancy swelling and my doctor blames carpal tunnel.  Let's just say I'm not a fan.  I tried to save money by using my rollerblading wrist guards but it's not the same.  These guards are worth every penny to help you sleep because it is worse at night.  Love them!  (even though I thought that it would magically make the numbness go away...not).

This past weekend I bought a watch exactly like this one.  I know white watches are trendy but so am I.  I love trends and I like to try them out.  So, sue me!  I was going to have my husband buy me a nice white watch for Mother's Day coming up but for $8 I couldn't resist this one. I just bought it and will tell you how I enjoy wearing it when I do.

I"m not sure if I have ever shared my love for Toms on this blog.  Well, I LOVE them.  They are so comfortable.  In fact, I've been wearing my ones with holes in them because I love them so much.  I need to buy another pair.  Over the weekend I happened to go to Nordstrom's Rack so I finally have a new pair.  They really are the most comfortable shoes EVER!  I used to wear tennis shoes around Disneyland but Toms beats them out hands down.  My feet are still tired at the end of the day with tennis shoes but with Toms I could go another 12 hours.  I convinced my mom to take them to Europe with her and she loved them too.  Run to get your next pair.

There ya go!

Friday Plus-April 6th

What we have been up to this week?

This kid got to pick a prize out at the dollar store and look what he picked out.  A hula hoop!  He is determined to learn how to do it.

These finally came in the mail.  I ordered them on Etsy for newborn pictures.  Aren't they adorable?

Went to our town's rodeo last weekend.  It was a blast and we all had fun even if there was drama (with our seating arrangements).  Good thing my mom was there to sweet talk.

WIWW: Do I Dare?

The other morning I was determined to wear a skirt.  But these days I seriously alternate between my four striped maternity shirts from Old Navy that I LOVE.  Gotta have one in every color, right?  Plus, the shirt that I had planned to wear with skirt fit but not as well as I would like.  I tried on this outfit and I need your opinion.

I know different patterns on patterns is in but I just couldn't do it.  To me it looked a little odd.  Even though the shirt was the right colors in the skirt I felt weird.  Maybe it was my old matchy patchy self coming back or maybe it is really odd.  Anyway, I didn't wear it.  I ended up wearing the other boring, blue, didn't fit quite right shirt I had planned that.
Could I pull this off one day?

Scramble

I swear I find a new app or something on my phone every week and of course I become addicted.  Hey, it's just my personality.  My latest addiction is Scramble.  It is like the game Boggle and I love it.  I'm sure the addiction will wear off just like Words With Friends have but for right now it is fun to play.  Check it out.

Monday Must....See this video

Sexy Modest is the store that I am always raving about on this blog.  It is my Utah go to store when in town.  He even dressed me head to toe when I was 17 weeks pregnant.  Can't say that I could fit into anything now but you better believe that I am going to buy more than a few things when I reach certain goals post babies.  Check out their latest items.

But here is a must see video.  It is hilarious!
